Christmas Eve Masquerade Ball

Another Christmas has just passed, and this year’s Christmas eve’s party at Tara’s was a fun one. BPPevents decided to make this 24th of December the final masquerade ball, but it seemed that barely anyone (including myself) never respects theme parties anymore.

As expected the night did not start until 3:00 AM and lasted until 8:00 AM. The DJ lineup were Mari Ferrari, Michael Calfan, of course DJ K9 and DJ Bullet, and a surprise Kyroman appeared shooting confetti from a shotgun.

So, what about the fashion we saw? We’re happy to report it was a fashion filled event, probably the most fashionable December 24th so far. Men in suits, bow ties and cardigans were all handsome, while we the women looked stunning in long dresses and chic cocktail dresses.

We even took the liberty of choosing the night’s most stylish couple:

Amazonia with Michael Brun

When? Sunday night

What? An unforgettable night

For the first time in a really long time in Haiti, Nocterm Entertainment hosted an event with a special guest DJ being one of our own: Michael Brun. For years we’ve seen very famous and international DJs such as AVICII, Steve Angelo, Max Vangeli… Although these events were all awesome, Amazonia was the first to only host Haitian DJs with Bernard Chauvet, DJ Bullet and DJK9 who each played 2 sets.

The crowd went absolutely wild as Michael started playing. His very energetic presence on stage was completely contagious. On the sides of the stage were 2 dancers from Ultra music festival dancing and animating the show. For once the place to be was on the floor with the crowd, moving and even jumping to his beats.

The event saw a parade of fashionable outfits, from urban street chic to glamorous dresses. Everyone came dressed to impress and to each their individual style.

What we loved most about this event, were the guys who took some risks. Harem pants? Yes please! Some guys sported a European style with moccasins and patterned scarves. It was such a pleasure to see people step out of their comfort zone.

Just like last year, Amazonia lived up to its expectations and was probably the best per-Christmas party for the second year in a row. Congrats to the Noctem Entertainment group!

Privé: All Black Affair

Three events were happening on Saturday night and yet Garden Lounge was packed with an audience moving to the beat of international DJ Yves Larock. Opening for Yves was DJ Bullet who spiced up the crowd with raggaeton and a bit of reggae. Later, our very own DJ K9 took the stage with his famous set of Hip-Hop and had us dancing until dawn.

For such a small place, we were not sure how the set up for such a famous DJ would be. The deck was transformed into a VIP section with all black couches. Inside the restaurant was supposed to be a Hip-Hop room but it seemed like the crowd preferred the outside atmosphere, enjoying the sound of Yves Larock.

Being an all black affair, it was no surprise that almost everyone at Privé were in black which added an extra luxurious feel to the event. We were not able to get much pictures due to the small space of Garden Lounge but we saw some fun jumpers, some leather, and a lot of cropped tops. Besides who doesn’t look good in black?

Lavish

Lavish… and how fitting a name. This event was decadent and lush, as is hip hop music. So, as you all may be assuming, the fashion was very urban and outrageous at times (All the things we love).

It’s always fun to get to a party and instantly feel the music. You know a party is good when you’re arriving and already dancing… Even before a little poison.

We were so happy to see how original people were dressed. They were so… full of swag? swaggalicious? The important thing to remember is that it was definitely a fashion filled event. Harem pants, beanies and crazy prints were all present. And what do we love more than that?

Let’s not forget to give a shootout to our favorite twosome of the night. Ladies, we love your outfits every time. So both of you were almost too much to handle.

Just Cito Fashion Show : Féline

Have you ever walked in to a place and are just instantly transported to somewhere else? In this case, the ladies at Just Cito Boutique have truly outdone themselves. The red carpet at the entrance, the beautiful chandeliers dangling about, and the assortment of real roses were a beautiful touch. They manage to create a sexy and intimate affair all the while having quite a big crowd.

Myria Charles the singer, humorously started off the soirée before presenting the women behind the event.The fashion show in itself was beautiful. The very elegant yet absolutely seductive style of the Vorbe sisters was apparent in their store’s clothing. The candlelit feel gave the entire affair a sensual air, and let’s face it, everyone looks better under candlelight.

The models were of various origins, mostly haitian ladies, but they were all, and I mean all, gorgeous. I’m almost positive every woman in the audience hid their significant other’s eyes during the more racy moments.

The model who stole the show was the one and only, mother of the heads of Just Cito, Marilyn. She step out at the end of the show as a surprise, and looked so regal it warranted the standing ovation she got.

Who says a couple has to be in a romantic relationship?

As promised, our best dressed couple by a landslide are two besties that always manage to make heads turn when they’re together.

Although we saw plenty of originality and individuality at LAVISH no other twosome came close.

Meet our December “It Girl” !

Ever see a girl walk in a room and completely own it? Is it the way she walks or talks? Those killer heels? Maybe the way her hair flows? It’s the package! It isn’t about beauty or a killer body (although that certainly helps), it’s about confidence. When a girl walks in to a room and all eyes are on her, the one thing everyone will agree on is that she has a certain air of confidence, whether it be a bold or quiet air of confidence.

Scrolling through our Instagram timeline we couldn’t help but noticing this particular girl’s pictures. Her selfies are always on point, and her OOTD pictures are always a “hit”. Now without further ado, we present to you our December it Girl: Capucine Moise.

Earlier this week I met and sat down with our It Girl. What was supposed to be a casual interview quickly turned into a fun conversation with what seemed like 2 old friends.

Meet our December “IT GIRL”:

– How would you describe your personal style?
I would say simple but chic at the same time. I love jeans and accessories. I love to accessorize. Necklaces for me, they make an outfit. I also love white tees. I have so many white tees!! I like neutral and pastel colors, I’ll wear colors but in the summer and i’m not too crazy about wearing a lot of make-up I think less is more. I love Kourtney Kardashian’s style. I feel like what she wears, I could wear too. She’s very elegant. I don’t really like Kim’s style that much anymore.

– What is a must have in your closet?
Loafers.
– Really?
Loafers and white tees. Seriously, I love them, they’re so comfortable I have so much of them.

– What is your favorite item to shop for? What do you go crazy for?
Accessories! Rings, necklaces, bracelets. I love them. I go crazy for accessories. When I go shopping I head straight for the accessories. My boyfriend has to grab me and pull me away. He’s like “NON! buy shirts, buy jeans!”

– What’s a trend you’re currently obsessed with these days?
Boyfriends jeans … distressed jeans … Oh mon Dieu J’adore! You can dress it either up or down. 

– Who is your favorite designer?
I don’t have a favorite designer, they’re all very creative but I will say … If I had to pick one … Zuhair Murad his dresses are amazing. But favorite stylist is Monnica Rose. She dresses the Kardashians and the Jenners, she’s so good. I followed her the other day on  Instagram. She’s amazing, she has the sickest style. She’s simple but her idea of fashion is … crazy!

– You said you love Kourtney’s style, besides her which other celebrity or blogger’s style inspires you?
Blake Lively! I fell in love with her in Gossip Girl. I love her style, she never goes wrong. Even her hair! I also like Blogger Aimee Song. I like how she mixes things. Her sister too has a really cool style, Dani Song but she’s more tomboyish.

– What makes you feel sexy?
That’s a good question. Ummmm… when my hair is done, I feel sexy. My hair and my eyebrows. I thread my eyebrows every week.

– I’ve noticed (through your IG pictures) that you like to go to the gym. How often do you go and what’s your favorite workout?
I work out 5 days a week. I used to dance when I lived in Haiti. But I started working out about a year ago. My favorite workout? Squats and stair master. I put ankle weights on stair master.

– Do you have your December shopping ready?
Yeah I’ve had it ready for a while. I hate stressing out last minute so I bought everything before. I know which parties i’ll be attending so it made it easier for me.

Interview with Michael Brun

Once in a while a rare talent surprises each generation. Be it an artist, a musician, or an athlete. But for the first time ever, Haiti has a international ambassador for Electro music. This DJ has created such a hype with his music, big DJs have taken a serious interest in him.

Raised in Haiti with a Guyanese mother and Haitian father, Michael Brun developed a passion for music at an early age. At 16 years old, he took up DJing and today at only 21 years old, he is the first Haitian to have worked with and received support from well known DJs such as Axwell, Avicii, Hardwell, Sebastien Ingrosso and many more.

We asked this EDM superstar a few questions to share with you! Check it out:

– When did your passion for music start?
My parents had me enrolled in piano lessons since I was 6, and I’ve loved music ever since.

– Was the decision to become a DJ an easy one?
Yes. I loved producing music already so the transition to DJing live shows was natural.

– What was your first big DJ gig?
My first headlining show was at LIV in South Beach in February 2013.

– How does it feel to be playing in Haiti this December?
It’s extremely exciting to be playing back in my hometown again. It’s been about 2 years since the last time I last played there and I’ve developed so much as an artist since then.

– How would you describe your on stage fashion?
Black on black and a nice pair of kicks. Simple but classic look.

– What is your everyday style?
Jeans with solid color tees.

– What is your favorite part about being on stage?
The transfer of energy between the crowd and myself.

– Who do you most look up to in this business?
Dirty South. He’s very talented but still humble, and I think that’s an important quality to have as an artist.

– What was your best moment on stage?
Playing my original track ‘Halfway’ at TomorrowWorld in Georgia and having the crowd of 8,000 people singing along.

That time of the year

It’s that time of the year again. The holidays !!!

Students coming from many parts of the world to spend the holidays with their family. Coming in with luggage filled with delightful new finds for the endless parties. It’s officially Haitian Fashion season and it’s safe to say that with the array of different events upon us, this year is no exception. Between that and the “retrouvailles” of friends and families, we feel this december will be one to remember. We can’t wait to see all the fabulous fashion moments that are bound to happen.

 

Glitz: Royal Oasis Rooftop Fashion Show

Last Friday December 6, to launch its fabulous rooftop terrace, Royal Oasis hotel organized an international fashion show featuring renown models from Europe and USA as well as many promising young Haitian talents.  Royal Oasis will donate Parts of the profits to Happy hearts foundation (HHF) a foundation owned by supermodel Petra Nemcova who announced that the funds will be used to pay the teachers of a school in Cite soleil (Ecole des archange).

With “Glitz” as a central theme (logical since the main sponsor was Taittinger champagne), the rooftop welcomed the audience with an all white breathtaking decor and hint of old Hollywood glamour, works of the talented event planner and designer Johanne Gardere from Caprice Events.

The night delivered everything it had promised and more from a surprise performance by Jperry to a titillating fashion show which proved to be one of the most professional fashion shows ever held in Haiti.

Host Luc Merville opened the show with a short yet touching video about Nemcova’s Happy Heart foundation. Soon after, the international models and a few Haitian models graced the catwalk modeling the clothes and accessories of stores such as Karma, MOI and Le Boudoir for women and Ibiza featuring Hugo Boss and BOGOSSE clothing line for men. The show stayed true to it’s theme by delivering a “glitzy” show with dazzling evening dresses and suits.

After being relitively quiet in the Haitian fashion scene lately, the internationally renown Haitian clothing line Bogosse startled us with an electric presentation of their menswear collection that had the public cheering and applauding.
